City of La Marque’s new trash collection contract with Waste Management begins Sunday, October 1, 2017, with the first trash and recycling collection scheduled for Monday, October 2, 2017. New cart deliveries from Waste Management will continue through the weekend and cart pickup from Republic is expected to extend through next week. Citizens and businesses should stop using the blue Republic Services carts and start using the green Waste Management carts. Please leave all blue carts at the curb until they are picked up.
Please pay special attention to different service days and times. Refer to the pamphlet attached to the new Waste Management carts for a complete description of services, routes and customer service contact information. A custom website, home.wm.com/la-marque, has been developed for La Marque. Customers can also use an interactive map that shows service days based on addresses.
Due to Hurricane Harvey and the ongoing storm debris removal efforts, Waste Management will begin by offering household waste and recycling. No bulk trash collection will be available until the disaster debris removal is complete. Harvey caused an estimated 7,600 cubic yards of storm debris in the City of La Marque. To date, about 2,500 cubic yards, or 33 percent, of the debris has been cleaned. There are up to five debris trucks running in the City of La Marque every day.
