Covid-19 Court Update

Virtual Court 

La Marque Municipal Court has been operating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and recently expanded services to offer virtual court for defendants. Court dates have been extended but the new service is available by request for those who prefer to address a case now rather than at future date. 

Participants need internet access and a computer or mobile device with a camera and microphone. Read more

La Marque Court Operations is currently scheduled to resume on Tuesday, June 02, 2020, at 8:30 a.m.

The Court will be taking the following actions to ensure the safety of the public and court staff. Court Sessions will be operated under the direction of the Office Of Court Administration.

  • The Court will maintain sanitation stations at court counter and courtroom security area and entrances.
  • The Court will sanitize the courtroom between each session.
  • The Court will post signs in public areas reminding people of the best hygiene protocols.
  • Judges and court staff will be required to practice social distancing, and practice appropriate hygiene recommendations at all times.
  • Smaller court dockets/staggered dockets to limit the number of defendants attending at one time.

All attending in-person hearings will be required to follow the strict guidelines listed below:

  • Defendants will be required to maintain social distancing guidelines.
  • Try to maintain a hands/ touch-free environment as possible.
  • Required to bring and wear their own cloth face covering while in the courthouse or anyone doesn’t have one will be given one.
  • Please feel free to bring your own pen for signing documents.

VULNERABLE POPULATIONS

If you are over age 65, or have a serious underlying health condition, such as high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, or have an immune system compromised by chemotherapy for cancer, or have another condition requiring therapy, please notify court staff at 409-938-9245 to discuss alternate accommodations such as a virtual court hearing.
