La Marque Police Department’s Officer Dash Cantu Earns 50 Club Honors

Officer Dash Cantu honored as La Marque Police Department’s Fifty Club Officer of the Year

Officer Dash Cantu was honored for outstanding achievement as La Marque Police Department’s Fifty Club Officer of the Year on May 6, 2019, at the Fifty Club of Galveston County Annual Awards Luncheon.

Officer Cantu is a member of the La Marque Police Department’s Special Response Team, Crash Investigation Team and serves as a Field Training Officer. He is a member of the Galveston County STRIKE Team. His training includes Advanced SWAT, High Risk Warrant Planning and Execution, Hostage Rescue and Expert Drug Recognition.

On March 16, 2019, Officer Cantu responded to a single vehicle crash involving a vehicle that struck a tree. As Officer Cantu approached the vehicle, he saw that flames had erupted from the engine compartment. Cantu, along with his trainee, were able to remove two passengers from the burning vehicle, saving them from further injury.

According to La Marque Police Chief Kirk Jackson, Officer Cantu is an invaluable asset to the La Marque Police Department.

“We are grateful for his service and dedication to the citizens of La Marque and Galveston County,” said Jackson. “We are proud to recognize Officer Cantu.”

The Fifty Club of Galveston County was established to aid the dependents of officers in Galveston County. When an officer is injured or killed in the line of duty, the Fifty Club of Galveston County is there with immediate financial support.
